Bagnall, A.-M., South, J., Southby, K., Freeman, C., Jones, R., Rithalia, A., Pennington, A. and Corcoran, R. (2020) A systematic review of the community wellbeing impact of community business. Research Report. Power to Change.

Abstract

This systematic review from the What Works Centre for Wellbeing looks at the ways in which community businesses work to improve the wellbeing of their customers, staff, volunteers, and local communities and what these wellbeing outcomes are. It also identifies key risks which have the potential to prevent positive impact on community wellbeing. The authors reviewed 43 studies across a range of sectors. Of the 43 studies included, 32 are based in the UK, making the findings very relevant to UK-based community businesses, funders and commissioners, and local authorities.
