Young people in community business: Stories of change

Agace, M. and Hayes, C. (2022) Young people in community business: Stories of change. Research Report. Power to Change.

Abstract

This report showcases the many ways young people came to be and are involved in community businesses across England. It shows that young people are involved in community skate parks, media companies, pubs, energy and many other types of community-led enterprise. Their engagement ranges from senior leadership, founders and co-founders, board members, paid employees, volunteers, customers, participants and service users. Young people’s experiences of engaging with community businesses through these routes are varied and often inspiring.

The report includes 15 case studies in the appendix, which showcase the breadth of young people’s experience of being involved in community businesses and the difference they are making to organisations and wider society.
