In 2018: 16 new shops opened 363 community shops were trading in the UK by the end of the year £541,000 total share capital was raised from their communities by newly opening shops Community shops had an average turnover of £153,500 p.a. – representing over £50 million in total for the sector There were approximately 160 full-time and 860 part-time staff employed within the community shop sector Averaging at around 20 volunteers per shop, the sector had a workforce of around 6,000–7,000 volunteers
